Abstract
Doctor Burkhart, of Batavia, New York, was elected thirtysixth president of the Association at the r 898 meeting in Omaha. This was the first annual session of the National Dental Association, formed by merger of the American Dental Association and the Southern Dental Association. Doctor Burkhart was the director of the Eastman Dental Foundation from its beginning in 1916 until his death in 1946. He supervised establishment of the Eastman dental clinics in London, Paris, Brussels, Rome and Stockholm. Doctor Burkhart had also been a private practitioner and dean of the dental department of the University of Rochester. He was the holder of numerous dental offices and honors, including the presidency of The Dental Society of the State of New York from 1895 until 1898. He was born in Ohio in 1864.
