Abstract
Doctor Oliver, of Nashville, became the seventy-ninth president of the Association at the 1941 meeting in Houston. Dental preparedness for possible war involvement was one of the concerns of the meeting. The Association headquarters building at 222 East Superior Street, Chicago, was purchased during Doctor Oliver's term. Doctor Oliver, an orthodontist, was for many years a professor of dental surgery at Vanderbilt University. He was president of the Federation Dentaire Internationale in 1952-1955. He served as president of the Tennessee State Dental Association, the American Society of Orthodontists, and the American Board of Orthodontics. He lectured on orthodontics extensively both in the United States and abroad. He was born in Virginia in 1887 and died in 1965.
