Abstract
Doctor Deines, of Seattle, became the one-hundred-andseventh-president of the Association at the 1970 meeting in Las Vegas. The House of Delegates adopted a statement on the "25th Anniversary of Fluoridation," saying "The American Dental Association urges state legislatures and public officials and agencies involved in health planning or care programs to give the highest priority to implementing fluoridation without further delay." Doctor Deines, a general practitioner, was a member of the House of Delegates from 1956 to 1963; he then served six years as a member of the Board of Trustees. He also served the Association as a member of the Council on Federal Dental Services. Doctor Deines was president of the Washington State Dental Association and the state's unit of the American Society of Dentistry for Children. He was a consultant to the National Health Services Council, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. He was born in Nebraska in 1916.
