Search strings are database-specific text used to retrieve a comprehensive set of search results on one topic, such as dental caries, from search engines.

The expert-developed search strings in this collection are a structured combination of keywords, controlled vocabulary terms (e.g. MeSH, Emtree), and Boolean operators. Several search strings may be combined to produce a full search strategy.

These search strings, among others, are used by the ADA Library & Archives staff to springboard searches for frequently requested topics.
