Abstract

Doctor Hinman, of Atlanta, was elected fifty-third president of the Association at the 1915 meeting in San Francisco. In his presidential address the following year he said: "One of the greatest needs of our profession in a legislative way is reciprocity in dental licenses." Doctor Hinman was dean and professor of oral surgery at Atlanta-Southern Dental College. He was a trustee of the Association for 12 years. He served as president of the Southern Branch of the National Dental Association in 1901, and as president of the Georgia State Dental Society in 1917-1918. He was one of the founders of the American College of Dentists. Doctor Hinman founded the Atlanta Midwinter Clinic in 1911; it was later renamed in his honor. He was born in Canada in 1870 and died in 1931.
