Abstract
This human resources column offers actionable advice for dental practice owners on supporting staff members managing caregiving responsibilities for aging parents, spouses, or children. Recognizing the financial and operational constraints of small dental practices, the author outlines low-cost supportive strategies, including flexible scheduling, clear communications, and empathetic management. Practice leaders are encouraged to establish consistent time-off request protocols, train managers to respect employee privacy, and connect staff with community caregiver resources and employee assistance programs to maintain staff retention and practice productivity.
