Abstract
The Virginia Commonwealth University’s Student National Dental Association (SNDA) hosted its 12th Annual Oral Cancer Walk on April 16, 2023, to raise awareness and funds for oral cancer research. Proceeds were donated to the Philips Institute for Oral Health Research and included in the VCU School of Dentistry Giving Day fund. Oral cancer, more common in men, is linked to tobacco, alcohol, and HPV, but early detection can significantly reduce mortality. The SNDA, founded in 1970, focuses on supporting minority dental students and improving access to care for underserved communities.
