Abstract
Virginia dentists can now legally administer Botox for cosmetic purposes under SB 1539, but they must complete specific training and continuing education as mandated by the Board of Dentistry. As of now, these requirements have not been published. Dentists should also consult with their malpractice insurance providers to ensure coverage for Botox procedures, as some insurers may not cover these services or may require additional premiums. It is crucial for dentists to consider regulatory compliance, risk management, and insurance implications before offering Botox treatments.
