Abstract
The D. Austin Sniffen Medal of Honor has been given annually for 106 years to an individual who has delivered exemplary service to both the dental profession and the community. The Medal of Honor was named after one of the Ninth’s most beloved presidents—D. Austin Sniffen—who passed away in 1950. D. Austin Sniffen was the Medal winner in 1927.
This year, the Medal Committee, chaired by Dr. Mary Ellen Lukaswitz along with Drs. John Constantine and Paul Kim, has selected Dr. Minerva Patel for this year’s award. Dr. Patel’s service to the dental profession and the community rises far above the Medal Committee’s requirement of “exemplary” to the level of “extraordinary.”
