Abstract

This editorial delves into the motivations behind young dentists and dental students joining the Association and highlights a recent study's surprising findings. Rather than tangible benefits, such as insurance and discounts, social and emotional factors were the primary drivers for membership. The study revealed that members seek a sense of belonging, opportunities for networking, and support in building confidence in their skills. The editorial underscores the importance of community and connection within organized dentistry and emphasizes the role of the MDA Journal in fulfilling these needs.
