Abstract

PDA’s special report, “Pennsylvania’s Dentistry Crisis: A Call to Action, was the culmination of a public relations campaign that began in June 2025. We began this campaign knowing so many of you have a story to tell, about the challenges dentists and patients alike face in Pennsylvania, and through this advocacy effort PDA sought to illustrate the gravity of the situation while also demonstrating that we have common sense solutions ready for any lawmakers willing to listen. For seven months, our team worked with our public relations consultant, Amy Hill of Hill Communications, strategizing the best ways to promote PDA’s key issues and craft our message to break through. From our very first conversation, so many of the problems and challenges kept coming back to access to care and dental workforce.
