Abstract

Reflecting on 50 years since graduating dental school, this article takes a nostalgic look back at the dramatic evolution of dental technology and education over the decades. It highlights the author's experiences with outdated equipment like belt-driven handpieces and mixing amalgam by mortar and pestle in the early days of the dental profession. The article also touches on issues of professionalism and celebrates the positive strides made towards greater diversity, equity and inclusion, both in dental education and leadership.
