Abstract

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are among the most common and clinically nuanced conditions encountered in general dental practice. Patients present with jaw pain, fatigue on chewing, limited opening, clicking or locking, headaches, cervical discomfort, parafunction, sleep disturbance, and significant anxiety about what their symptoms might mean. In many cases, conservative first-line care works well but for a meaningful subset of patients, symptoms persist, multiply, or evolve into a chronic, functionlimiting condition that becomes difficult to manage within a traditional single-provider model.
