Abstract

The Communicator is the official journal of the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists (AADEJ), an organization founded in 1931 serving individuals and publications across the dental field, including state dental associations, component societies, specialty groups, alumni publications, student publications, allied professional organizations, and commercial publications.

AADEJ's mission is to promote the advancement of all phases of dental journalism and dental literature. Guided by its vision of "Elevating Dental Journalism and Communications," AADEJ advances ethical journalism by promoting responsible editorial practices, setting high professional standards, and providing education and services that foster the professional development of its members.

The Communicator is available on the AADEJ.com website and published digitally on ADA Commons. In this issue, we welcome our new Editor, Dr. Cathy Hung. The issue looks back at the recent AADEJ 2025 meeting held in San Diego and includes a reflection on the meeting's value by Arjun Patel, a fourth-year dental student at the University of Louisville who attended as the recipient of the AADEJ Detlef Mohr Scholarship. The issue presents traditional content including an editorial, President's message, and Executive Director's report, alongside feature articles on coaching authors using generative AI, digital publishing, and podcasting. Each article provides practical tips that readers can apply to enhance their communication skills.
