Abstract
The Communicator is the Journal of the American Association of Dental Editors. It is published quarterly and distributed digitally via email to members and posted on the Association’s website aadej.org.
This inaugural issue of 2025 for The Communicator, the official publication of the American Association of Dental Editors & Journalists (AADEJ), sets a forward-looking tone for dental journalism. It prominently features crucial topics such as expanding circulation and archiving publications through ADA Commons, a comprehensive guide to copyright law for protecting journalistic work, and an in-depth analysis of Generative AI's impact and ethical considerations in dentistry. The issue also serves as an announcement for the AADEJ's upcoming Annual Meeting in San Diego, highlighting its collaboration with the International College of Dentists (ICD), offering a stellar lineup of speakers, CE opportunities, and valuable networking in a desirable location.
Regular contributions from the Editor-in-Chief, Executive Director, President, and Associate Editor cover diverse subjects, including literary resources, the critical need to safeguard dental literature from politically motivated scrubbing campaigns, the association's adaptability to evolving communication platforms, and the professional value of the Certified Dental Editor (CDE) designation. Overall, the issue underscores AADEJ's mission to promote the advancement of dental journalism and literature through innovation, ethical practice, and robust professional development.
