Abstract
The editorial addresses the workforce challenges in the dental profession, highlighting difficulties in recruiting hygienists and assistants. Suggestions include supporting current dental assistants in advancing their education to become hygienists and improving workplace environments to attract new employees. Initiatives such as a new accredited hygiene program at Colorado Mountain College and potential legislative changes offer hope, but patient safety and quality care must remain priorities.
