"70-year-old oral surgeon heeds Army’s call to duty" (front page)

Dr. Caulfield, oral surgeon and Vietnam veteran, retired from military service in 1980 and civilian practice Jan. 1st, was asked by the army to return to active duty with the 325th Combat Support Hospital in Bagram, Afghanistan. After first thinking there was a mistake, the negotiations began with Dr. Caulfield asking, “Do you know how old I am?” They did, and age doesn’t matter, “We want you.”

Letter: "Soldier says thanks" (pg. 6)

Colonel James J. Baldi DDS writes in to thanks the ADA and its membership for their support of the reservists and guardsmen activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The ADA responds with an editors note stating that "the ADA encourages its constituent and component societies to utilize dues waivers to assist tripartite members called to active duty" and offers resources for support of active duty dentists.
